The Sims 4: First Screenshots & Details Leaked

    Coming Soon: The Sims 4

The Sims, the ever-popular video game series from Maxis and EA, is a life simulation game that has been around for over a decade. With three sequels, several different versions and expansion packs, the Sims has become one of the most popular and successful video game series available. Much to the excitement of Sims fans everywhere, EA announced in May of 2013 that it would be releasing the Sims 4 in 2014.

    The Leak

While the development of a fourth sequel was announced months ago, the public was given little information about the new game. However, those anticipating the release of the Sims 4 were given a first-hand look at what to expect when screenshots and details about the newest Sims installment were leaked online earlier this week. The screenshots included previews of new Sims characters and neighborhoods, as well as a look at some of the new editing options for Create a Sim and Build Mode.

    New Features

Many of the details of the Sims 4 will be similar to those of previous games, but the newest sequel will include several new features. The new Sims are purported to be more intelligent and emotionally rich; they will be able to multitask, as well as to express emotions in new ways. Moods will be influenced by everything from other Sims to memories to clothing choices.

Furthermore, the new creative tools, including a room-based Build Mode, will allow gamers to create characters and homes like never before. Achievements within the game will render new rewards, such as new outfits, objects, and personality traits. Lastly, gamers will now be able to share their households with friends and to download community creations.

    Gamescom 2013

While it is unclear whether or not the leaked screenshots of the Sims 4 are legitimate, as they may be from an early phase in development, they only give a glimpse into what is to come for the newest installment. For those avid fans who want to see more, EA is slated to showcase the latest Sims sequel later this week at Gamescom 2013.
